How can you help First Touch?

Our supporters are so valuable to us. Here are some of the ways they have helped us in the past.

Sponsored runs

This has been an extremely successful way of generating funds for First Touch. Most of the money raised has come through the setting up of personalised Just Giving sites, but we’re also happy to provide you with paper sponsor forms if you’d prefer. Choose a distance that is a challenge to you, and go for it! We’ll also keep you posted of any charity places we have in upcoming running events. This year we have had 30 places for Run To The Beat, each runner pledging to raise £250. We also put together a team each year to take part in the Adidas 5k Women's Challenge in Hyde Park.

Other sporting events

There are far too many to mention them all, but we have had sponsored swims, skydives, cycle rides, gymnastic shows, kickboxing events. We currently have 100 places available on the Gold Challenge and 100 places on the Youth and Family Gold Challenge. This is an opportunity to try out Olympic Sports and raise money for First Touch at the same time.

Sponsored walks and mountain climbs

We are always amazed at the sheer endurance that many put themselves through to raise money for us. From Mt Kilimanjaro to the Inca trail to the Brecon Beacons; there are so many beautiful places out there waiting for you!

Personal celebrations

Many altruistic supporters have chosen to receive donations in the place of gifts to mark various celebrations such as weddings, birthdays and christenings, either as a collection on the day or through Just Giving pages.

Public events

These can take a lot of organising, but can also be a lot of fun, as well as an excellent way of fundraising and raising our profile. Some ideas of events held by our enterprising supporters include fetes and fairs, gigs and concerts, parades, quiz nights and fashion shows. We’ll help you as much as we can along the way.

Selling goods

We have a small number of people who sell goods, such as Phoenix Cards or Pampered Chef products, and donate any profits made to First Touch. Some sell their goods over a long period of time, and others hold one-off parties to raise cash.

Making goods to sell

We have had some very talented supporters in the past who have made and sold Easter and Christmas decorations, lavender bags, greetings cards and cakes.

School fundraising

Many schools fundraise for charities nominated by parents and pupils. This is a great way to both generate funds and to raise awareness of First Touch within the local area.

Retail nomination

There are many supermarkets (such as Waitrose and Sainsburys), shops and banks who will fundraise for local charities nominated by their customers. Next time you go shopping, please spare a moment to find out how you can nominate us!

Collection boxes

If you have a little time to spare, please ask us for some of our collection boxes to distribute to local businesses. We only ask that  you also take responsibility for collecting these boxes and counting the money too.

Corporate support

If your company is looking for a charity to support, please consider nominating First Touch. We’ll be able to provide you with plenty of literature to pass around your colleagues. If you are an employer, please consider signing up for Workplace Giving. This has been recommended to us by other supporters as a good way of offering regular, pre-tax giving to your favourite cause.

Social networking

If you are active on Twitter or Facebook, please don’t forget to post links to our website from time to time. It just helps to spread the word about the work we are doing. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Please look us up!

First Touch goods

Please think about buying our Christmas cards and Jute bags. Again, they are a good way of both generating funds and spreading awareness of First Touch.

Legacy Giving

This is an area we are keen to promote. Please get in touch if you’d like any further information on this.

Donate your skills

If you have a particular skill to share, we’d love to hear from you!
