First Touch has had an account with Justgiving since 2005. It is a great way to raise funds for the charity. Setting up your page only takes a few minutes, and your friends, family and colleagues can make instant donations using credit or debit cards.

'My brother and I challenged ourselves to a sponsored sea dip in the freezing conditions on Boxing Day 2009. We raised almost £1900 for First Touch.

My son Adam was born 22/10/2008 with a diaphragmatic hernia which was diagnosed at my 21 week scan, so the NNU nurses were at the c-section ready for him. He was a term baby. He was intubated at birth and in a very bad way. On day 3 one of the consultants said they were running out of options for him. On day 5 Adam turned it around and started to improve. On day 9 he had surgery, moving his stomach, bowels and intestines away from his chest and stitching up the diaphragm. At 4 weeks we were due to take him home after a fantastic recovery but he started having breathing difficulties and was put back on CPAP to help him breathe, then the staff tried to intubate him again, but could not get a tube down. Adam was then diagnosed with subglottic stenosis and had to have an emergency tracheostomy. He was transferred from the NNU on 22/12/2008 to Kingston hospital where he was finally discharged 1/02/2009.

He still has the tracheostomy now and is a regular on Nichols Ward at St George's. However, his initial problems seem to be sorted and his left lung is now the same size as his right (after being squashed while in the womb due to diaphragmatic hernia).

We will forever be indebted to the NNU and can not thank the nurses and doctors who cared for him enough.

Vicky is one of the many supporters who set up a justgiving page.

"Vicki's sponsorship money has been used to fund a specialist cot for the neonatal unit. We have put a plaque on the cot acknowledging Vicki's fantastic support."
