Dorking Swimming Club's Swimarathon

Your fundraising stories

On 12th March 2011 over 20 young swimmers from Dorking Swimming Club managed to raise £756 for First Touch by forming 3 teams to swim in a continuous 50m relay for 55 minutes.

The sister of two of the swimmers was admitted to St George's NNU on 12th July 2008, aged 12 hours, for emergency surgery to correct a diaphragmatic hernia. Tegan spent 12 days in the NNU before making a full recovery.

The swimmers, aged 5 to 9, did some fantastic swimming, with two of the DSC's teams scoring an identical 112 lengths! There was an great atmosphere and an inevitable friendly competition.

Tegan's brother, Jacob, was the youngest swimmer to take part in the Swimarathon, an all day event attended by around 400 swimmers, aged only 5 years old. He finished the session on a real high, swimming through the final whistle with all the shouting and screaming that goes with it!
