The neonatal unit at St George’s celebrated World Book Day (March 5th) with the launch of their very own sibling book!
Megan O’Hanlon, big sister to neonatal patient Sian has written and illustrated “Sian’s Big Swim”. This book is a lovely way for parents to help little siblings of neonatal babies understand their sibling’s journey.
The Book Launch also marks our inauguration of Louise’s library on the neonatal unit. Louise Williams worked as a co-ordinator for First Touch, the neonatal unit’s official charity for 12 years. Sadly, we lost Louise in January 2025. Louise’s dearest wish was for her legacy to continue in the form of Louise’s library. Louise was the driving force behind providing books for babies, parents and siblings on the neonatal unit. She understood how beneficial it was for parents to read to their babies as a means of empowerment, and to develop that all important bond.
All our families received a copy of Sian’s Big Swim in celebration of World Book Day, Megan’s wonderful book and Louise’s ongoing legacy!
