New “Isaac” Maquet Ventilator

We were honoured to welcome onto the unit the wonderful Rose family along with their friends at the Grace trust.

Baby Isaac spent his too short life, here, on the neonatal unit. Last summer his big sister Maisie, aged 5, walked 75 miles in her fundraiser for First Touch, to honour the 75 days that the family had with Isaac

She raised a staggering £24,150 towards a Maquet ventilator. The Grace Trust heard of her amazing efforts, and provided the balance needed to buy the ventilator.

Our wonderful Consultant Sandeep Shetty says….

Using NAVA ventilation mode, this equipment has transformed Neonatal Respiratory care – cutting deaths & significantly improving patient outcomes! Recent figures show a 50% reduction in mortality in infants with chronic lung disease and a reduction in chronic lung disease incidence from 70% to 50%

Thanks to Maisie, the Rose family and the Grace trust – First Touch have been able to equip our neonatal unit with another of these incredible machines!
